Established in 1861, five years after the enactment of the Methodist Episcopal Church by William Butler , The Lucknow Publishing House was formerly known as Methodist Publishing House . Situated in Lucknow, a city in the Northern region of India, L.P.H.has been soaring to achieve new heights in catering to the needs of churches , theological students and general readers through its publications and printing of quality par excellence, under the inspirational guidance of Mr. Michael Paul from the day he took responsibilities as Publisher in 1986 .

Though in the beginning the main task of Lucknow Publishing House was to assist in expanding the work of the Methodist Church and started publishing many periodicals , Newspapers such as Christian educational texts,Sunday school materials,Indian Witness etc. However in the prevailing conditions it combines publishing,printing and sales under one roof and is the largest christian publishing house in North India

As an all India Institution the Lucknow Publishing House functions under the Executive Council of the Methodist Church in India and is still the headquarter of all the Church Publications of the Methodist Church in India .
